61/365 - Little by little

We arrived back in Bucharest a few hours ago and I am catching up with the internet world :) From my goal to rest and learn I managed to do sleep and only a little learning, but I learned some new stuff that will help me on the long run. So little by little, the brick becomes a wall and the wall should become a building... will see ...

60/365 - Outside of boundaries

I have achieved one of my goals for this weekend: I've slept like a baby until 11:30 AM, the air and the temperature helped me also!

Today we celebrated my wife's uncle and his wife also, it was a sunny and beatiful day until 1 hour ago when it started raining and the temperature droped to a point that I love ( and my wife thinks it's cold). We are now waiting for pancakes with home made jam.

I do like the Ipad and fuji combo, I am using the snapseed app from google to edit on the go!

See you tomorrow!l

58/365 - All geared up!

I am getting ready for the 2 day trip that I will have to my wife's parents. We will leave Bucharest tomorrow after work and we will come back on Sunday. The weather will not be so friendly with us -so the internet says - so I foresee most of the weekend time indoors which translates into reading and having my learning time as I wanted.

From a tech point of view I am done, packed and ready to go....my luggage ...well that's another story :)

See you tomorrow!

56/365 - Need ice cream..

So yesterday I arrived back in Bucharest where the temperature kills you slowly but surely! Today I went outside my office to smoke and I felt like I was forced to live in an oven.... I need cold drinks and ice cream....lots of ice cream... Oh and now it rains... happy weather time!

See you tomorrow!

55/365 - Born to be wild!

54/365 - Cvartet

I wonder how the kid feels the music is it different than what we hear? Or just the same ... He was, like all of us, drawn to the beautiful sounds of these street performers but he seemed mesmerized by the classical music played by the cvartet.

This is my last day of holiday! Tomorrow we will head home and restart our daily activities. I've got some nice shots from the past 2 days and I realize that I am starting to see some details and compositions that 1 year ago I would have missed... A feeling that is great that I evolved.

I used snapseed for my processing and I think it worked great!

See you tomorrow!

52/365 - work

I haven’t written this much since the beginning of the project, great and exciting things are happening but this is time consuming and I am starting to feel like the day is too short for all I want to do. I need to get a good balance between work, photo activities and my lovely wife. I see a lot of people neglecting family and their loved ones putting ahead of them work in all it’s forms and I am not going to do this.
We have planned a trip for the w/e and I am eager for this as I worked too much lately and I really needed a break. We will visit two locations: the first one is Balea Lake, a glacier lake situated at aprox 2000m altitude. The road that goes to it offers one of the great experiences in Romania and Eastern Europe – Transfagarasn road, and don’t believe me look up Top Gear episode shot in Romania and you will see for yourselves what I am talking about. After spending one night at the lake we will go to Sibiu city which is one of the coolest city’s in Romania. In 2007 was European Capital of culture and the old city of Sibiu was ranked as Europe’s 8th most idyllic place to live by Forbes magazine (Wikipedia source).
For this trip I will compliment my Fuji with the Ipad 2 and the card reader to keep everything in a light and small backpack. Although Ipad 2 does not offer the best performance from a screen and processing perspective I do love it as it is more than sufficient for what I use it on a daily basis. I will upload a downsized version of the photos due to apple’s system. I am not sure yet what applications I will use or how good are the JPG’s from the camera as most of my shooting is in raw but now due to the lack of a pc I will be forced to shoot in JPG’s (RAW & JPG)
I will post more photos on my flickr account (keep your fingers crossed for mobile reception) on the go!
See you tomorrow!

51/365 - One drop from wunderland!

Finally I have a desk, my own space to work, create and do all my activities. I have waiting to get this computer desk model from Ikea for over a week as I liked very much how big it was and the fact that it was simple with nothing but table and legs. I was stuck on my kitchen table for the last 7 days and it is quite funny how something this practical and cheap can bring so much joy to a tech geek like me...and I guess my wife is also happy that she got her kitchen table back :))
Special thanks goes to my friend Cristi that helped me to bring this big desk at home!

See you tomorrow!

50/365 - Home cooked meal!

The lack of sleeping is getting to me... I need sleep and I need to improve the last 7 days average of 5 hours per night.

I am going to bed early today!

44/365 - XX marks the sound!

X marks the spot, XX marks the sound!

I am looking at different tutorials on the internet and slowly building my own workflow based on the highlights from each one. I saw a lot of people that is learning new things stopping at the first tutorial / book /teacher they encounter and don’t search further taking that information as the ultimate one …
I am not an adept of this approach for many reasons but the main one is simple: for my photography only I know what is best for me and what works or not. For me (and I repeat this…for me…) the best way is to gather as many information I can and build my own with a solid foundation.
Regarding the headphones I am very pleased with this pair of inear JVC – for the price I thing that they are unbeatble. The build quality is also good and the fact they come with a case is a great thing as usually they end up thrown in a bag exposed. I am using them a lot with my new pc and they feel great even after 5-6 hours of use.
See you tomorrow!

43/365 - Keep your feet on the ground

Keep your feet on the ground and most important facing the light!

Today I am starting to create a proper workflow, I am studying and doing in the same time to get the right feeling on this. It's chaotic when you move your whole lie from one pc to another and you try to out everything in place but slowly with patience and a coffee everything is possible!

See you tomorrow!

Today I was up early and I went out the serve a coffee with a good friend and talk about photography and what happened lately. We also took a short walk and ended up in a market flee with lots of old stuff, furniture, used items and new ones... As always I had my camera with me :)
Tomorrow I will have my new pc – keep your fingers crossed as I said the same thing on Friday …I will not have a desk but the kitchen table will do for 1 week until the desk that I liked is on stock at IKEA.

Recap of today:
At this hour I should have a new pc and a new desk
What I have is one monitor, at least it’s a good one … I placed an order yesterday for a new pc, a custom build with assembling and the woman that was taking my order said that today I will have it. I called the store today and they said I could have the parts without the assembling as the department that does this is closed until Monday. I said ok so I will take the parts and assemble it myself – went to the store to take all the parts and guess what? the motherboard that was on the order was not what I requested (it wasn’t even compatible with the processor)…So I need to wait until Monday in order to have my new pc. Regarding the desk I wanted a nice desk from IKEA …went to the store...out of stock until June 16…
Yep, one of those days!
See you tomorrow!

38/365 - Perfect Symmetry

Tomorrow I will have a new pc with a good monitor, a desk and a new chair.... I can't wait as I was using for processing an old laptop with the worst lcd and the results were not always as expected...
This will be the start of something great for me... I will talk about this in the next months!

37/365 - I be on my suit and tie...

I am looking for a new PC. I talked about an Imac and how I wanted one but for now is out of my league from a budget perspective. I am looking at different parts and I feel like I am back in time in highschool when I knew everything about motherboards, processors and RAM’s but without the knowledge … I am getting up to speed with the evolution in order to get the best for me…
If interested I can share the details when I will decide

I liked a quote that said ”insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. I guess we all are doing this a lot in this lifetime but I know that is very important to realize and make the change needed…
No, I did not buy a flash (yet). I used my iphone with an app that uses the led as a flashlight so I can have a continuous light.

I was out today for a short street photo session with a friend of mine that also started a 365 project (you can find his work here: http://www.feelingthecolor.wordpress.com ). We went into the old city center searching for street theater performance that we didn’t find but we managed to get some nice images without it. I love the mixture of people that get together here and splash of style & color that comes from this!
